The Business Plan Competition 2013 supported by the The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation [UNIDO] and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) who also supported The Entrepreneurship and Career Fair 2013 has come to a glorious end. Three people emerged as the winners of the 2013 UNIDO/ FMITI Business Plan Competition after a thorough selection process.
1st Place: Dearty bags
2nd Place: Jerry’s corner
3rd Place: Technerd Limited.
The winners will be receiving cash prizes from one of the sponsors of the competition, RegCharles Finance and Credit Limited. The other sponsors of the competition are Fate Foundation, Nysteria Solutions and Spread Media Nigeria. The winners were announced at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Abuja at the UNIDO/FMITI policy workshop and they all made a presentation of their ideas to the audience.
It is envisaged that this initiative will contribute in building the enthusiasm in youth involvement in self-led activities through the unveiling of their entrepreneurial potentials to plan, launch and manage business start-up successfully.

Meet Chike Nicholas Ogunjiofor of Dearty Bags: First Place Winner – UNIDO/FMITI Business Plan Competition
Chike is a graduate of Physics from Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. He is a 25 year old from Imo state and he is currently serving the fatherland in Abuja with Hammersmith Training Consult.
Chike is also a graduate of Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA), a NYSC Entrepreneurship Program (NEP) where he took courses that helped sharpen his entrepreneurial skills.
His business idea, which he named Dearty bags is an innovative one that intends to manufacture recycled eco-friendly bags, gifts packs and umbrella from plastic trash. The business aims at solving societal problems of plastic (pure water sachet) waste and reduction of unemployment in the country. The company plans to strengthen its partnership with the society by developing awareness for proper disposal of waste and recycling opportunities. Dearty bags has a vision to lead the way in sustainable development in Africa in the area of plastic recycling and also hopes to diversify into other recycled and eco-friendly products.
Meet Jeremiah Chukwuebuka Eziefula of Jerry’s Corner: Second Place Winner – UNIDO/FMITI Business Plan Competition
Ebuka is a graduate of Psychology from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Agbani. Jeremiah is from IMO state, 25years of age and currently teaching at St. Paul the Apostle Secondary School. Enugu. Jeremiah is passionate about reducing the unemployment rate in the country and he believes that youth oriented businesses is a key solution to ending unemployment in Nigeria.
His business idea, which he named Jerry’s Corner is a chain of restaurants in Nigerian Higher Institutions particularly, the South-East Higher Institutions.
Jeremiah hopes that Jerry’s corner will become the largest and the most recognised franchise restaurant in the South-East Nigerian Higher Institutions by the year 2020. The mission of Jerry’s Corner is to “Provide quality and healthy food to the students in the Nigerian Higher Institutions.”
Meet Temitope Babatunde Ekundayo of TechNerd Limited: Third Place Winner – UNIDO/FMITI Business Plan Competition
Temitope Babatunde Ekundayo, is a graduate of the Department of Geology, University of Port Harcourt and the last son of the family of four. He currently resides in Port Harcourt, and he is a native of Egbe Local Government, Kogi State.
His business name is Technerd limited. Technered limited will deal in software applications, the real estate application called ADD ME won Tope the third place in the competition. With ADD ME, Temitope hopes to help end users search for the right priced properties, give estate managers avenue to showcase their properties and services. The software will also help home owners use and access 3rd party services like interior decoration, furnishing etc. The software hopes to offer various categories of services and products to different groups while it also solves one of the Real Estate Sector Major Issue- access to right and accurate data and information.
Temitope has worked with Quantum Business School planning the yearly Entrepreneurial Awards organised to celebrate Top Business people in the Niger delta and was a participant in the last Business Reality TV Show tagged THE NEXT TITAN which aired on Channels TV every Saturday. He is currently a partner for a Non-partisan Organisation dedicated to educating youths on voting, registration and mobilization, the organisation is called VOTE or SHUT UP Nigeria.
